Midday gunfire erupts after dispute near Newark apartment complex
Newark, DE — A verbal dispute escalated into gunfire in broad daylight near a Newark apartment complex, sending one person running and another fleeing in a vehicle as police launched an investigation.
The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Prides Crossing near the Liberty Square apartment complex. Delaware State Police said two individuals were involved in an argument when one discharged a firearm.
Following the gunfire, one person ran into the apartment complex while the other left the scene in a blue sedan.
Authorities reported no injuries and said investigators have not located any shell casings or evidence of property damage.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is handling the case as the investigation continues.
