Scratch-off comeback delivers $100,000 win for Waldorf writer
Waldorf, MD — A decision to keep playing after a string of losing tickets led to a $100,000 payday for a semi-retired writer in Waldorf who said she had long believed a big win was coming.
The winner purchased several scratch-off tickets at the Giant supermarket on Crain Highway, first trying four $5 games that did not produce a prize. She then bought two $10 50X the Cash tickets, with the second ticket revealing a 10X symbol paired with a $10,000 prize, resulting in a $100,000 top-prize win.
After reviewing the ticket, she confirmed the result through the Maryland Lottery website and signed the back before claiming the prize April 24.
The winner said she plans to use the money for home remodeling, savings, and a possible overseas trip.
The 50X the Cash game launched earlier this year with multiple top prizes, several of which remain unclaimed.
The Giant store that sold the ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus.
