School threat sparks lockdown scare before all clear at Lacey Township High
Lacey Township, NJ – A morning threat of violence against a New Jersey high school triggered a rapid lockdown response and heavy police presence before authorities determined there was no credible danger to students or staff.
The incident unfolded Tuesday around 7:10 a.m. when Lacey Township police received a call reporting a threat directed at Lacey Township High School, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
In response, officials immediately implemented a shelter-in-place order as law enforcement agencies conducted a full assessment of the situation. Officers from the Lacey Township Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office coordinated efforts to secure the campus and investigate the source of the threat.
Authorities later determined that the threat was not credible. The shelter-in-place order was lifted at approximately 10:05 a.m., and normal school operations resumed.
Despite the all-clear, officials said the school remains under heightened security while the investigation continues.
Law enforcement is actively working to identify the individual or individuals responsible for making the threat. No arrests have been announced.
