Early-Morning Subway Attack Leaves Manhattan Rider Stabbed in Abdomen Multiple Times
NEW YORK, NY — A 57-year-old subway rider suffered multiple stab wounds early Monday after a verbal dispute aboard a northbound 2 train escalated into violence at the 96 Street subway station, according to the NYPD.
The attack happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday as the victim was riding the train near the 96 Street station on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, NYPD Crimestoppers said in a public alert.
Investigators said an unidentified man approached the victim and became involved in a verbal confrontation before allegedly pulling out a sharp instrument and stabbing the 57-year-old multiple times in the abdomen.
Police did not immediately release the victim’s condition or details about how seriously he was injured.

Authorities said the suspect fled following the stabbing, though investigators have not released a description of the individual or specified whether the suspect exited the station or remained on the train.
