Police rushed to reports of an active shooter at a North High Street business before uncovering a shooting that began outside the store
COLUMBUS, Ohio — An active shooter report at a North High Street business triggered a major police response Sunday morning, but investigators later determined the gunfire occurred outside the store and led to the arrest of a woman accused of shooting a man who was found hours later.
The Columbus Division of Police said officers responded at approximately 11:31 a.m. to the 1300 block of North High Street after receiving reports of an active shooter inside a store.
When officers arrived, they determined that shots had actually been fired in the parking lot and not inside the business.
During the response, an adult woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition after suffering injuries in a fall.
At approximately 12:49 p.m., officers located an adult male in the 2600 block of McKinley Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said the man was shot during the earlier incident on North High Street and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
According to investigators, the victim identified 36-year-old Teanya Swanson as the person who shot him.
Swanson was later arrested and charged with felonious assault.
Police have not released additional information regarding what led to the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
