Officers responding to a disturbance on Waverly Terrace reported finding a woman actively assaulting a victim.
CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland woman was jailed early Tuesday after police said she assaulted a person and resisted officers attempting to take her into custody.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 9, Cumberland Police responded to the 400 block of Waverly Terrace for a report of an assault in progress.
When officers arrived, they allegedly found 21-year-old Heidi Storm Townsend actively assaulting a victim. Police said Townsend resisted efforts to place her in handcuffs before officers were eventually able to take her into custody.
Townsend was transported to Central Booking and later appeared before a District Court commissioner.
She was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
Townsend is charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
