Federal immigration records confirm Canadian citizen Kaitlyn Tracey is in ICE custody at Delaney Hall in Newark following her arrest in an alleged assault on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk.

NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed that Kaitlyn Tracey, the Canadian woman charged in an alleged assault during a confrontation on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk over the Independence Day holiday weekend, is being held at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark.

An online ICE detainee locator search lists Tracey, whose country of birth is Canada, as currently “In ICE Custody” at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in New Jersey.

The detention follows her arrest in connection with an incident that occurred on July 3 along the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk.

Assault charge stems from boardwalk confrontation

According to Point Pleasant Beach police, Tracey confronted a group of four teenage girls while recording the encounter on her cellphone. Investigators allege the confrontation began after Tracey objected to two of the girls wearing patriotic sweatpants displaying the words “Trump” and “ICE.”

Authorities allege Tracey struck one of the girls in the face and body during the encounter. Police said the victim did not suffer serious injuries.

The criminal case remains pending. She was released from Ocean County Jail and later turned herself in to immigration officials.

Tracey is a Canadian citizen who entered the United States using a passport in 2024 and had been living in Asbury Park with her husband, Matthew Geroni, a U.S. citizen.

Geroni, who has a large following on TikTok and describes himself as the “Clown of Asbury Park” and the “Jester of the Jersey Shore,” said after Tracey’s arrest that ICE transferred his wife to the Delaney Hall Immigration Detention Facility. The couple are self-described “Punk Rockers,” and Geroni’s social media feeds are filled with left-wing-based videos criticizing Republicans and President Donald J. Trump.

In a video posted to TikTok, Geroni said, “My main goal is the safety and well-being of my wife, and that is about it,” regardless of whether she is ultimately deported to Canada. He also claimed aspects of the incident had been taken out of context but did not directly address the assault allegations.

What happens next

Tracey’s criminal case in New Jersey and any immigration proceedings will move through separate legal processes. ICE has not publicly announced whether removal proceedings have formally begun or provided additional details regarding her detention.

Delaney Hall, located in Newark, is a federal immigration detention facility that houses individuals awaiting immigration court proceedings or other actions by ICE.
