A 20-year-old man was rushed to a hospital after being shot in Southwest Baltimore just after midnight as detectives search for whoever opened fire.

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 20-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting in Southwest Baltimore early Tuesday, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 12:17 a.m. to the 200 block of South Monroe Street after receiving reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found the 20-year-old victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. Police have not released an update on his condition.

Southwest District detectives have taken over the investigation. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released information about a suspect or a possible motive.
