A King George woman stopped by Virginia Lottery headquarters to pose with an oversized winner’s check after scratching a ticket worth just $4.
KING GEORGE, VA — Most Lottery players dream of winning thousands or even millions, but for one Virginia woman, a $4 prize was enough to fulfill a longtime wish.
Lindsey Eldred of King George stopped at a Sheetz on King’s Highway on Tuesday, July 7, and purchased a Virginia Lottery Rollin’ Riches Scratcher ticket while on her way to a concert in Richmond.
The ticket turned out to be a winner—but not for a life-changing amount.
It was worth $4.
Because the concert venue was only a few blocks from Virginia Lottery headquarters, Eldred decided to stop by and celebrate her win with one thing she had always wanted: an oversized Lottery winner’s check.
“I was so excited!” Eldred told Lottery officials. She said she bought the ticket because she knew the Rollin’ Riches game had just been released.
When asked how she plans to spend her winnings, Eldred said she has not yet decided.
Rollin’ Riches is a $2 Scratcher game featuring prizes ranging from $2 to $20,000. According to the Virginia Lottery, none of the game’s top prizes have been claimed. The odds of winning the $20,000 top prize are 1 in 775,200, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.26.
Virginia Lottery proceeds support K-12 education across the Commonwealth.
