A Falls Church player said she closed her eyes while playing online, then heard the notification that revealed an $863,941 jackpot win.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A Falls Church woman’s hesitation about playing the Virginia Lottery quickly disappeared when a single notification sound revealed she had won an $863,941 progressive jackpot.

The anonymous winner was playing the Virginia Lottery’s MONOPOLY Super Spin online instant game when the jackpot hit.

She told Virginia Lottery officials she spent the morning telling herself, “I shouldn’t be playing this. I shouldn’t be playing this.”

Then came the moment everything changed.

“I closed my eyes, and I heard this ‘bling,'” she said. That notification signaled she had won the game’s $863,941 progressive jackpot.

“I said, ‘OMG, I won the jackpot!'” she later told Lottery officials. “It’s just so unreal.”

Virginia law allows Lottery winners to remain anonymous, and the Lottery did not release her identity.
