Barnegat Bay, NJ – The New Jersey State PBA announced Tuesday that its annual Tices Shoal gathering remains scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, despite a deadly boating crash that occurred on Barnegat Bay following Saturday’s Float Shoal event.
In a social media post, the organization wrote, “STILL ON FOR TOMORROW! Wednesday July 29th 10 am!!” alongside promotional artwork for the gathering at Tices Shoal, a popular boating destination in Barnegat Bay.
Fatal collision remains under investigation
The announcement comes just days after a fatal collision near Tices Shoal as large numbers of boaters were departing the Floatshoala event Saturday afternoon.
According to the New Jersey State Police, one person was killed in the crash and several others suffered injuries. Emergency responders from multiple marine agencies rushed to the scene, and injured victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victim, and investigators have not released a final determination on what caused the collision.
State police continue investigation
The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau is leading the investigation into the crash. Detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision, including vessel operation and other contributing factors.
No additional information regarding potential enforcement action or charges has been announced.
The PBA’s decision to continue with Wednesday’s event comes as investigators continue gathering evidence from Saturday’s fatal crash.
