Police say an 18-year-old was discovered lying on a bedroom floor with the resident’s belongings in her bag.
COLUMBUS, OH — A reported burglary took an unexpected turn Monday morning when Columbus police said officers found an 18-year-old woman hiding inside an apartment with the resident’s jewelry and cosmetic items in her possession.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:40 a.m. Monday, July 27, to the 600 block of Kingsford Road after receiving a report of a possible burglary.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers searched the residence and found a woman, later identified as 18-year-old Kauralynn Davis, lying on the floor in a bedroom.
Police said the apartment’s resident arrived at the scene and told officers no one had permission to be inside the home.
Investigators said officers found several cosmetic items and pieces of personal jewelry belonging to the resident inside a bag Davis was carrying.
Davis was arrested and charged with burglary.
The charge is an allegation, and Davis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
