BRIGANTINE, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying human remains discovered in Brigantine more than 40 years ago.
Authorities said the skeletal remains of an unidentified man were discovered on May 14, 1982, in a marshy meadow area adjacent to Golden Hammock Thorofare in Atlantic County. Investigators believe the man died sometime between 1981 and 1982.
The victim is believed to have been a white male between the ages of 35 and 45. Investigators estimated he stood approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed about 165 pounds.
As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities created a composite sketch showing what the unidentified man is believed to have looked like at the time his remains were discovered.
The case remains open, and investigators hope renewed public awareness will help identify the victim after decades without answers.
