Investigators say two parcels bearing a YouTube moniker tested positive for controlled substances before authorities delivered them to a Readington Township address
READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Two packages addressed to Henri Hotsauce sparked a multi-agency drug investigation that ended with a Readington Township man being arrested moments after authorities conducted a controlled delivery to the parcels’ intended destination, prosecutors said Friday.
David Develder, 47, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree possession of prescription legend drugs with intent to distribute and third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substances without a prescription.
The investigation began Aug. 7 when detectives with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force were notified about two packages addressed to Henri Hotsauce at a Readington Township address.
Prosecutors described Henri Hotsauce as a YouTube moniker.
Packages allegedly test positive for controlled substances
Investigators examined the parcels and determined they tested positive for controlled dangerous substances, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities did not identify the specific substances allegedly found in the packages or disclose their quantities.
Six days later, investigators arranged for the parcels to continue to their original destination under law enforcement surveillance.
Members of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, U.S. Homeland Security, Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and Readington Township Police Department participated in Thursday’s controlled delivery.
Prosecutors said Develder was taken into custody without incident moments after the packages arrived.
Distribution charge carries potential prison term
Develder faces one second-degree count of possession of prescription legend drugs with intent to distribute.
A second-degree conviction in New Jersey can carry a prison sentence of five to 10 years and a fine of up to $150,000, prosecutors said.
He was also charged with third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substances without a prescription. Third-degree charges can carry three to five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
Develder was released pending his first court appearance, scheduled for Wednesday.
The investigation remains ongoing.
