Newark police are asking for the public's help locating a 52-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery in the city's Central Ward.

NEWARK, N.J. — The Newark Police Division is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Laroy Irving, 52, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery that occurred in May.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the robbery happened at approximately 9:25 p.m. on May 12 in the 200 block of Central Avenue.

Police said the victim was taking trash from her apartment when she was approached by a man who allegedly stole her cellphone before fleeing the area.

Authorities described the suspect as standing between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a gray jacket, white T-shirt, white belt, light blue ripped jeans and a blue-and-white bandana.

The Newark Department of Public Safety said Laroy Irving is wanted for questioning in the ongoing investigation. He is described as having brown eyes and black hair.
