QUEENS, N.Y. – The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying a woman accused of repeatedly punching an on-duty MTA employee and damaging a bus during a confrontation in Queens.
The incident happened around 11:36 a.m. Saturday near Vernon Boulevard and 38th Avenue, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers. Police said the unidentified woman became involved in a verbal dispute with a 49-year-old male MTA employee.
The confrontation then turned physical, investigators said. The woman allegedly punched the transit worker multiple times in the face before damaging the bus and running away.
Woman Allegedly Punches MTA Employee Multiple Times
Police described the incident as an assault on an MTA employee and are seeking information that could lead detectives to the woman.
“The dispute became physical and the unidentified individual punched the victim multiple times in the face,” NYPD Crime Stoppers said.
Police did not disclose what prompted the argument or provide information about the employee’s condition following the assault.
After allegedly attacking the worker, police said the woman turned her attention to the MTA vehicle.
Investigators allege she broke the rear window of the bus, causing property damage. Police did not provide a damage estimate.
The woman then fled the area on foot and remained unidentified when the NYPD issued its public appeal Friday.
