BRIDGETON, N.J. — A Cumberland County man convicted of killing his parents inside their Hopewell Township home has been sentenced following a jury trial.
Craig Williams, 37, was found guilty July 2 on eight counts, including two counts of first-degree murder, in the deaths of Brenda Williams and Billy Williams Jr., according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. He was sentenced Aug. 28.
New Jersey State Police went to the family’s Tipton Drive home on March 13, 2023, for a welfare check after relatives had not heard from Brenda and Billy Williams Jr. since March 9.
Prosecutors said troopers initially encountered Craig Williams, who told them his parents were not home. Police later entered the residence and found both victims dead in their primary bedroom and bathroom. Both had been stabbed multiple times.
At trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Williams discarded or attempted to discard items after the killings, including bloody clothing, gloves, shoes and towels, along with a surveillance camera and his parents’ cellphones.
Williams was also convicted of weapons offenses, evidence tampering, hindering apprehension and obstruction.
