WASHINGTON, D.C. – Four men were shot in broad daylight on Dix Street in Northeast DC Friday afternoon, leaving a 21-year-old man dead and three other victims wounded, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Sixth District officers rushed to the 6200 block of Dix Street NE at approximately 1:42 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. They found four adult men suffering from gunshot wounds, including one who was unconscious and not breathing.
Police identified the man who later died as Cortes Lilly, 21, of Northeast DC. DC Fire and EMS transported three victims to a hospital, while a fourth was airlifted for treatment and later died despite life-saving efforts, according to MPD.

Four Men Found Shot on Dix Street
Officers responding to the 6200 block of Dix Street NE found one of the four men unconscious and not breathing, while the other three were conscious and breathing, according to police.
“DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported three of the victims to an area hospital,” MPD said in its statement. The fourth victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment.
Police said that victim ultimately “succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead.” MPD subsequently identified him as Lilly.
The department’s release did not provide the conditions of the three surviving victims beyond stating that they were conscious and breathing when officers arrived.
