NEWARK, Del. – What began with a report of a gun pointed at two people on Creek Road in July ended weeks later with an arrest and a search that Newark police say uncovered a handgun, ammunition, large-capacity magazines and a semiautomatic rifle.
Isaiah Morehead, 23, of Wilmington, was arrested Sept. 1 after detectives identified him as the suspect in the July 11 encounter. He now faces two sets of charges and combined bail exceeding $160,000.

Police Say Gun Was Pointed at Two People
The encounter happened around 5:10 p.m. July 11 on Creek Road near North College Avenue. Two people were in the area when they came across a group of men, according to Newark police.
“During the encounter, one of the subjects approached the victims’ vehicle and struck a window,” police said.
Investigators allege the confrontation then escalated.
“The subject then allegedly displayed a black semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at the victims,” police said. “The victims left the area and contacted police.”
Detectives eventually identified Morehead as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police did not say in Wednesday’s announcement what led investigators to identify him.

Arrest Leads Detectives to More Weapons
Morehead was located and arrested Sept. 1. What detectives say they found afterward produced a second criminal case.
Police executed a search warrant and reported finding “a semiautomatic handgun, ammunition, two large-capacity rifle magazines, and a semiautomatic rifle classified as an assault weapon.”
Morehead’s first warrant charges him with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of aggravated menacing and harassment.
The second warrant includes possession of an assault weapon, possession of a large-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony and three counts alleging possession or control of a firearm or ammunition by a prohibited person. He is also charged with felony noncompliance with conditions of a recognizance bond.
Morehead was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2.
A judge set bail at $65,000 secured on the charges tied to the Creek Road encounter. Bail on the second set of firearms charges was set at $101,000 cash.
Police did not identify the two people allegedly threatened or report any injuries in the encounter.
Morehead faces charges stemming from two warrants.
