Freeholder Haines Shuts Down Lakewood Parks

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Ocean County Freeholder Virginia Haines, 94, today announced she is once again closing parks in Ocean County.  This time, two parks in Lakewood will be shut down as the county clears the parks out after this week’s tropical storm caused damage.

“We are keeping these parks closed to allow for necessary cleanup and for the safety of the public and the staff,” Ginny Haines said.”I would suggest residents and visitors check the Park’s Department website at www.oceancountyparks.org and Facebook page before visiting today.”

Parks currently closed to the public are Ocean County Park, Lakewood, and Lake Shenandoah County Park, Lakewood.

This is the third time Haines closed parks in Ocean County. Haines shut down the Brick Township Mantoloking Bridge Park after reports of large groups of Orthodox Jews were reported congregating there this spring.  Days later, as those crowds shifted to other parks, Haines ordered the closure of all county parks through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
