BERKLEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – They are now angels in heaven looking down upon us. The victims of the September 11th attack will not be forgotten as towns across New Jersey held ceremonies marking the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attack. In Berkeley Township, Mayor Carmen Amato wants to remember and pay tribute to those first responders who paid the ultimate sacrifice on this date, 19 years ago on 9/11.
“At our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, held during our Community Pride Day on Saturday, Mayor Amato was joined by our new Councilman, Michael Signorile, as well as members of our Berkeley Township Police Department, Fire Companies and First Aid Squads,” Amato said.
Amato also thanked the Meehan family for their assistance in helping Berkeley Township obtain a piece of steel for our 9/11 memorial. The Meehan’s lost their daughter, Colleen Barkow, during the tragedy that unfolded that day.
“Members of the public can see our 9/11 Memorial at Veterans Park in Bayville, by the flag poles,” he added.
