WAYNE, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff announce that Joseph Montgomery, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, has been sentenced for engaging in sexual conduct with a thirteen-year-old child in his care. Mr. Montgomery was arrested on February 17, 2021, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Wayne Police Department.
He subsequently pleaded guilty on March 19, 2021, before the Honorable Sohail Mohammed, P.J.Cr. to one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for engaging in sexual conduct with a thirteen-year-old child at a residence in Wayne.
On June 11, 2021, the Honorable Sohail Mohammed, P.J.Cr., sentenced Mr. Montgomery to three years in New Jersey State Prison. Upon release from prison, Mr. Montgomery will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law registration requirements. The victim and her family participated in the Zoom Virtual Court proceeding.
