LEONIA, NJ – The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office today announced the arrest of Nile Diakos, wanted for a stabbing murder that took place Saturday in Leonia. This time, police feel they have the right person.

“At 9:59 a.m. on Saturday, the Leonia Police Department received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a residence in town,” the department said. “Upon their arrival at the residence, officers found 35-year-old Alicia A. Arnone deceased from an apparent stab wound.”

Based on the statements of two alleged eyewitnesses to the circumstances surrounding the murder, Andrae Daniels was identified as the murderer, and he was arrested and charged.

During the investigation, detectives cast serious doubt upon the alleged eyewitness statements. Police said, when confronted with evidence obtained during the investigation, one of the eyewitnesses recanted the identification of Andrae Daniels, while the other, Diakos, was identified as the actual murderer.

Diakos was charged with murder, weapon possession for an unlawful purpose, hindering his own apprehension, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Andrae Daniels, who was originally arrested for the murder was released from custody on Wednesday.
