Arrest Made in 2022 Silver Spring Home Invasion Case

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department has recently arrested Saatehu Mesutmen, a 27-year-old Silver Spring resident, in relation to a home invasion and shooting that took place last year.

Mesutmen is facing charges of home invasion and first-degree attempted murder for the shooting incident that took place on Monday, April 11, 2022, in the 13200 block of Stravinsky Terrace in Silver Spring.

Detectives found evidence suggesting that Mesutmen had fired several shots through the back sliding glass door of the residence, gaining entry and shooting the 58-year-old female occupant.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, was treated in the Intensive Care Unit, and was subsequently released.

The investigation revealed no known connection between Mesutmen and the victim. Mesutmen was identified as the alleged shooter, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday, May 5. He is currently being held in Prince George’s County on unrelated charges and is expected to be extradited to Montgomery County.
