Arrest Made in Memorial Day Homicide Investigation

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred on Monday, May 29.

At approximately 9:47 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Bellevue Avenue, where they found 44-year-old Demond Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical attention, Jones later died at Upstate Hospital.

Three other victims, all in stable condition, were also found with gunshot wounds. As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Jauqwell Flagg was identified as the suspect.

Flagg was arrested at his residence on Monday, and has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
