New Jersey’s Gas Tax Increases Tomorrow, Here’s How Much

by Conservative Times

TRENTON, NJ – After two years of decline, the New Jersey gasoline tax is increasing tomorrow, making getting to work on Monday a little bit more expensive.

The gasoline tax in New Jersey will rise by one penny per gallon starting October 1st, as announced by Gov. Phil Murphy’s administration in August.

This increase marks a shift after two years of declining gas taxes in the state.

The new rate will be 42.3 cents per gallon, up from the current 41.1 cents. This adjustment reflects a roughly 2% increase and is the culmination of two separate levies commonly known as the gas tax in New Jersey.

More bad news for New Jersey commuters as the crude oil prices worldwide could climb to $100 per barrel. On Friday, crude was trading for $92 per barrel, which will lead to eventual increases at the pump.
