Man in Custody After Deadly Shooting in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, MD – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reported a fatal shooting incident in Williamsport early Thursday.

Responding to a 911 call, WCSO arrived at a residence on the 11700 block of Cedar Ridge Rd. just before 9:10 a.m.

The caller, identified as David Martz, Jr., 73, claimed to have shot his wife.

Upon arrival, deputies arrested Martz and discovered the body of Joann Kay Martz, 66, who had sustained gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martz faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and first-degree assault. The WCSO continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
