Deadly Crash Reported on Black Horse Pike

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A tragic motor vehicle crash occurred on the Black Horse Pike, just west of Route 50, in Hamilton Township on Saturday, December 23rd, at approximately 11:58 PM. Township of Hamilton Police Department officers responded to the scene following reports of a vehicle crash into the woods.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2008 Mazda Miata, driven by 27-year-old James Rodriguez of Minotola, NJ, was traveling westbound on the Black Horse Pike. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with multiple trees. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident resulted in traffic being diverted for around three hours to facilitate emergency response and investigation procedures.

The response to the incident included the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, and the Mays Landing and Laureldale Fire Departments, all of whom assisted at the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
