QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the arraignment of Neal Milano, 76, on charges related to defacing his Sunnyside apartment building with threatening and derogatory messages.
DA Katz condemned the actions, emphasizing that hate and bias-motivated attacks are intolerable. Milano faces a 10-count indictment, including criminal mischief as a hate crime and making graffiti.
The incident occurred on November 2, at around 5:05 PM. Milano is accused of using a black marker to write messages across four floors of his condo building. The graffiti included a threat against the condo board and contained homophobic and anti-female slurs. If found guilty, Milano could face up to seven years in prison. Supreme Court Justice Toni Cimino has scheduled his next court appearance for January 30, 2024.
