Ride-Share Driver Robbed at Gunpoint in Laurel, Suspect Arrested

LAUREL, MD – A robbery incident occurred on January 3rd at around 5:50 p.m., in the 3400 block of Londonleaf Court, Laurel, involving a 33-year-old male ride-share driver.

The driver was completing a fare when the passenger, seated in the rear of the vehicle, pressed an unidentified object against the driver’s back, suggesting it was a weapon. The suspect then demanded the driver’s cell phone. Complying with the demand, the driver handed over his phone. Subsequently, the suspect exited the vehicle and started walking away.

The driver followed the suspect, who dropped the stolen phone. Police officers responding to the incident successfully located and apprehended the suspect. The individual has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery.
