Norfolk Police Department Mourns the Loss of Beloved K9 Ficko

NORFOLK, VA – The Norfolk Police Department announced the passing of their esteemed K9 member, ‘Ficko’, on January 10, 2024, due to cancer complications. Ficko, a 9-year-old Belgian Malinois, had been an integral part of the NPD K9 unit since September 2015, working alongside his handler, MPO Officer McClain.

Certified in both patrol and explosive detection, Ficko’s contributions to public safety and the protection of the Norfolk community have been invaluable over the past nine years. His dedication to service and the strong bond he shared with his handler and the department have left a lasting impact.

The Norfolk Police Department, along with the entire community, deeply feels the loss of K9 Ficko. His memory and the legacy of his service will continue to be honored and remembered. The department extends its heartfelt thanks to K9 Ficko for his years of loyal service: “Good boy, and a job well done. Your work is over but not forgotten.”
