Despite these efforts, the child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigative efforts, bolstered by community assistance, led to the identification and arrest of Fuentes and Turcios. The initial findings suggest the suspects were engaging in gunfire with another group when the mother and her child, who were nearby and not involved, were hit by stray bullets.

Assistant Chief Vernon Hale emphasized the commitment of the investigative team, stating they have tirelessly worked to bring those responsible to justice and offer some solace to the family of Jeremy Poou-Caceres. The investigation continues as authorities seek to apprehend additional individuals involved in the incident.

Fuentes and Turcios are set to face first-degree murder among other charges and are currently held by the police, pending transfer to the Department of Corrections. The Prince George’s County Police Department reaffirms its dedication to solving this case fully.
