Feds Expand No Fly Zone Around Collapsed Key Bridge

by Breaking Local News Report

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland State Police have announced an expansion of the temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The updated TFR now spans two nautical miles in radius from the bridge’s center and extends from the surface to 1500 feet above ground level (AGL). This measure aims to secure the airspace around the incident site and ensure the safety of ongoing recovery and investigation efforts.

Since the initial TFR was established on March 26, in response to the bridge collapse, law enforcement has encountered several unauthorized drone flights in the restricted area. The FBI – Baltimore, together with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, Maryland State Police, and other law enforcement agencies, emphasize that this area remains a “No Drone Zone.”

The public is urged to comply with the restrictions, as flying drones or any other aircraft within the designated no-fly zone is prohibited. Violators risk arrest, prosecution, and could face fines or imprisonment. The enforcement of these restrictions underscores the seriousness of the airspace security measures and the commitment of law enforcement to maintain safety in the aftermath of the bridge collapse.
