Humpback Whale Found Dead on Beach at the Jersey Shore

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ – This morning, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) was alerted to a report of a dead whale washed ashore on Long Beach Island.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on April 11, a call was received about a deceased humpback whale, measuring between 20 and 30 feet in length, located in the surf at 51st Street in Long Beach Township. The MMSC’s Stranding Staff is en route to the site, with Long Beach Township Police already present to secure the area.
