TRENTON, NJ — Starting tonight, motorists in East Brunswick, Middlesex County, will face overnight closures and detours on Route 18 due to a major roadway rehabilitation project. The closures are scheduled from 11 PM to 4:30 AM for northbound lanes and until 6 AM for southbound lanes, affecting the area between Racetrack Road and Milltown Road tonight and tomorrow night.

Further closures will occur from Wednesday, April 17, through Friday morning, April 19, between Rues Lane and Racetrack Road during the same overnight hours. These interruptions are necessary for the installation of traffic signals at multiple intersections including Arthur Street and Cindy Way.

This work is a part of the extensive $86.1 million Route 18, East Brunswick, Drainage and Pavement Rehabilitation project. Planned improvements include milling and paving, drainage enhancements, utility relocations, new sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and guiderail upgrades. The project aims to enhance approximately four and a half miles of Route 18 and is expected to conclude in fall 2026. Motorists are urged to adhere to posted detours and allow extra travel time.
