Dover, DE– The Delaware State Police, in collaboration with the Delaware Department of Correction (DOC), the Delaware Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), apprehended 31-year-old Jahee White of Dover, Delaware, on multiple felony charges associated with an inquiry into misconduct by a Correctional Officer.
On Tuesday, police from Troop 2 Drug Unit, along with DOC, DOJ, and FBI investigators, conducted a probe triggered by claims of unethical behavior by Correctional Officer Jahee White at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, where he allegedly leveraged his position to participate in criminal activities such as smuggling contraband into the prison for distribution purposes and accepting bribes. DOC Commissioner Terra Taylor emphasized the gravity of the situation imploring a swift response to breaches of trust to safeguard the security of correctional facilities and their inhabitants.
Last Saturday, April 23, police units took White into custody without an incident in Dover. He faced charges including three counts of Official Misconduct Position Used to Engage in Criminal Conduct, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree, among others, and was remanded to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $95,000 cash bond.
