Accokeek woman killed in hit-and-run identified as search for driver continues

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Police have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run in Accokeek as 40-year-old Loretta Canter-Andrews, who was struck and killed Friday night on Indian Head Highway.

The crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. near Farmington Road, where officers found Canter-Andrews in the roadway with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver involved had already fled the area, according to investigators.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle hit Canter-Andrews in the northbound lanes before leaving the scene. Authorities are working to identify the driver and vehicle responsible for the collision.
