September 20, 2024

Allentown, PA District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan announced the conclusion of the investigation into a recent officer-involved shooting at the Dominican Festival in Allentown on Aug. 25. The DA determined that the use of deadly force by Allentown Police Officers was justified, and no criminal charges will be filed against any officer involved.

The investigation was conducted by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office Detectives and the Allentown Police Department. It included a detailed review of video, audio, photographic evidence, and multiple sources of community-submitted evidence. Interviews were conducted with all four officers who responded to the incident in the North Lot, supplemented by body camera footage and non-law enforcement video sources.

The DA clarified that the officers involved, referred to as Officer One through Officer Four, faced a situation where two individuals, identified as Yunior Peralta-Quintana and Miguel Angel Ovalles-Ubri, were firing at each other. Both individuals have been arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide. Officer One and Officer Four fired their weapons during the incident, while Officers Two and Three did not discharge their firearms.
