Annapolis woman books Europe trip after shocking $50K Powerball win

Maryland woman thought she won $100 before discovering $50K jackpot

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A retired Maryland banker planning a summer trip to Europe got an unexpected financial boost after learning a Powerball ticket she thought was worth $100 had actually scored a $50,000 prize.

The Annapolis woman matched four white balls and the Powerball in the May 6 drawing to win the third-tier Powerball prize, according to the Maryland Lottery.

The longtime player initially believed she had matched only three numbers plus the Powerball and expected a small payout.

When she brought the ticket to a store clerk for verification, she discovered the ticket was actually worth $50,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dash In, located at 2575 Riva Road in Annapolis.
