ASHEVILLE, NC – An Asheville man will spend more than 13 years in state prison after separate investigations uncovered large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, with prosecutors also citing the presence of a minor during one of the arrests.

Terrence Antonio Lucas, 36, was sentenced following guilty pleas to multiple drug trafficking charges and one count of misdemeanor child abuse, according to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.

The charges stem from two investigations conducted in 2025.

In May, authorities seized 110 grams of fentanyl. A second investigation in September led to the seizure of an additional 75 grams of fentanyl and 30 grams of cocaine during an operation by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

During the September arrest, investigators located a minor in the vicinity of the narcotics, resulting in the additional child abuse charge.

Lucas received consecutive prison sentences totaling a minimum of 13 years and four months in North Carolina state prison. He was also ordered to pay 1.25 million dollars in fines.

The case was investigated by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Asheville Police Department.
