Battle For Brick Ends With Undefeated Season for the Mustangs

BRICK, NJ — Brick Memorial secured its first unbeaten season in program history with a 19-14 victory over Brick Township on Friday night.

Connor Dietz scored two touchdowns for Brick Memorial, helping his team improve their record to 9-0 in the Shore Conference. Brick Township fell to 4-6 after the tightly contested match.

The game saw an intense struggle for control, with both teams showing moments of brilliance. Dietz’s 2-yard run opened the scoring in the first quarter, putting Brick Memorial ahead 7-0. In the second quarter, Brick Township responded with a 48-yard touchdown pass from Christian Booker to level the score at 7-7.

In the third quarter, Dietz found the end zone again with a 5-yard run, although the extra-point kick failed, giving Brick Memorial a 13-7 lead. Brick Township reclaimed the lead shortly after, when Jacob Toye punched in a 4-yard run to make it 14-13.

The deciding moment came in the fourth quarter when Nicco Maribo returned a fumble for a 33-yard touchdown. The subsequent two-point conversion run failed, but Brick Memorial held on to clinch the win and the unbeaten season.

With playoff brackets soon to be announced, this win solidifies Brick Memorial’s standing as a team to watch.
