DEA task force takedown ends with 54 month sentence
HARTFORD, CT – A Bridgeport man described by prosecutors as a trusted associate in a southwestern Connecticut drug trafficking organization has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison.
Terrell Wills, 52, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford to 54 months of imprisonment followed by four years of supervised release for trafficking narcotics, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.
Federal authorities said the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Stamford Police Department identified Rodney Canada as the leader of a drug trafficking organization distributing fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine in Stamford and other parts of southwestern Connecticut.
A 2024 investigation that included court-authorized wiretaps and controlled purchases revealed that Canada and others coordinated street-level narcotics distribution. Investigators intercepted more than 5,000 text messages and calls tied to the operation.
Prosecutors said Wills, who formerly lived in Darien, primarily distributed cocaine and managed cash for the organization. He also acted as an intermediary between Canada and other drug sellers.
Wills, Canada and additional members of the conspiracy were arrested on May 14, 2024. On that date, authorities executed search warrants at locations in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Darien, seizing approximately three kilograms of cocaine, nearly 400 grams of raw fentanyl, more than 500 bags of fentanyl, five firearms, a bulletproof vest and seven vehicles.
Wills pleaded guilty on October 10, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine.
According to prosecutors, his criminal history spans approximately 30 years and includes numerous convictions, including a 2014 federal narcotics trafficking conviction that resulted in a 48-month prison sentence.
Wills, who had been released on a $150,000 bond, is scheduled to report to prison on April 24.
Rodney Canada previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced on December 15, 2025, to 110 months in prison.
