MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Myrtle Beach Police Department on Friday introduced its newest officer, Aristotle Long, following his graduation from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and official swearing-in as a member of the force.

Long, originally from Brooklyn, New York, was raised in Brewster, N.Y., and said his family’s strong ties to law enforcement played a key role in his decision to join the profession.

“Having a lot of family members in law enforcement is what always attracted me to the job, as well as being able to help the community,” Long said in a department-issued biography.

In addition to his commitment to public service, Long enjoys fishing, working out, and spending time with his family. He said his long-term goal with the department is to “learn the job inside and out, then move up the ranks.”

The department described Long as a valuable addition to its “First In Service” team, praising his dedication and passion for serving the Myrtle Beach community.

Officials noted that Officer Long’s background and determination would serve him well in his new role, as the department continues efforts to build strong relationships with residents and visitors.
