Buena Vista Township, NJ – New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help after a trooper was struck by an ATV rider who accelerated and fled into a wooded area in Atlantic County.
The incident occurred Saturday, January 17, at approximately 5:02 p.m., when troopers responded to a trespassing complaint near West Colton Avenue in Buena Vista Township, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Authorities said troopers encountered a group of all-terrain vehicle and dirt bike riders on Jackson Road. As officers attempted to approach and speak with one ATV operator, the rider allegedly accelerated in an attempt to flee.

Police described the suspect as a white male operating an orange CFMoto CForce ATV. During the attempted stop, the ATV struck a trooper’s arm and leg before continuing into a wooded area.
The extent of the trooper’s injuries was not disclosed. The suspect has not been identified.
