Dozens of tires slashed in Buffalo spree suspect finally cuffed months later

BUFFALO, NY — Months after nearly 30 vehicles were found with slashed tires along a Buffalo street, police have arrested a 43-year-old Kenmore man in connection with the late-night vandalism spree.

The damage was discovered the morning of Nov. 2, when East District officers responded to a criminal mischief call on Winspear Avenue. Investigators determined that approximately 30 vehicles had been damaged sometime between the late hours of Nov. 1 and the early morning of Nov. 2.

An investigation began immediately, and after months of collaborative detective work, authorities identified a suspect.

On Wednesday, Darrel Larkin, 43, of Kenmore, was apprehended without incident. He has been charged with eight counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree under New York State Penal Law 145.05-2, a Class E felony.

Police said additional charges are expected as victims are notified of the suspect’s arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing.
