Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Police Department is mourning the loss of retired K9 Georgie, who passed away on December 11 at the age of 12 after years of dedicated service to the city and its residents.
Georgie joined the department in 2015 and served alongside her handler and partner, Officer Christina Colosimo, until her retirement in 2021.
A dual-trained police dog with distinguished service
During her six years of active duty, K9 Georgie was trained in both narcotics detection and patrol operations. Her work included assisting local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in investigations, as well as conducting building and open-area searches, tracking suspects, criminal apprehension, and providing protection for her handler.
The department credited Georgie with contributing to numerous successful operations throughout her career and praised her professionalism and loyalty to the force.
Remembered beyond the badge

After retiring, Georgie lived with Officer Colosimo and her family, spending her days enjoying the outdoors, swimming, and relaxing. The department said she passed peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her.
“Georgie was more than a partner — she was family,” the department shared. “Her service and spirit will never be forgotten.”
