Nutley homes targeted in two separate attempted burglaries hours apart
Nutley, NJ – Two attempted home burglaries just hours apart sent police scrambling across town Monday as separate groups of suspects tried to break into residences on Grant Avenue and Beech Street, prompting an active investigation by the Nutley Police Department.
The first incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Grant Avenue, where three male suspects dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts, sweatpants, black face masks, and gloves tried to access a vehicle parked in the driveway. After failing to enter the vehicle, they moved to the back of the residence and attempted to enter through a window. The suspects reportedly arrived and fled the scene in a white Acura, possibly a TLX model.
Later that afternoon, at approximately 2:35 p.m., a second attempted burglary was reported on Beech Street. In that case, two individuals dressed entirely in black, wearing ski masks, white hard hats, and yellow traffic vests, were captured on surveillance footage trying to gain entry to the home through multiple access points. They left the scene in a dark blue Mercedes GLE crossover.
At this time, investigators do not believe the same individuals are responsible for both incidents. The Nutley Police Detective Bureau is actively reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence from both locations.
No injuries were reported, and no property was stolen in either incident. Authorities are urging residents to remain alert and ensure their homes and vehicles are secure.
