Bus Driver Who Drove on Lakewood Sidewalk Issued Ticket by Police

LAKEWOOD-A video of a bus passing traffic on a sidewalk on the way to school in Lakewood went viral this morning.

“Due to mainstream and social media outlets, it has been brought to the attention of the Lakewood Police Department that a school had taken over a sidewalk in an effort to alleviate a traffic jam on  Williams Street yesterday afternoon,” the Lakewood Police Department said.

Upon learning of the incident, Officer Alex Guzman of the Lakewood Traffic Safety Unit learned that the driver of the occupied bus, owned by Jay’s Bus Service Inc, was 41 year old Yaakov Stern of Lakewood. As a result, Stern received motor vehicle summonses for Driving on the Sidewalk as well as Reckless Driving. He is expected in court later this month.
