Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez today revealed that Dexter Taylor, a resident of Bushwick, Brooklyn, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for assembling an illegal arsenal of ghost guns. Taylor was convicted of multiple weapon-related charges after law enforcement discovered 13 untraceable firearms, including assault weapons, handguns, and rifles, in his residence.
District Attorney Gonzalez highlighted the dangers of ghost guns and emphasized the collaborative efforts of law enforcement to combat their spread. Taylor, found guilty of possessing illegal firearms, now faces a lengthy prison term as a consequence of his actions.
Identified as Dexter Taylor, a 53-year-old resident of Bushwick, Brooklyn, the defendant received his 10-year sentence from Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Abena Darkeh following a jury trial. The investigation that led to Taylor’s conviction revealed his purchase of ghost gun kits and components online, which were later recovered at his Eldert Street address in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
A search warrant executed in April 2022 at Taylor’s apartment unveiled a substantial cache of firearms, ammunition, and gun-building materials, leading to his arrest and subsequent trial. Investigators determined that Taylor had spent around $40,000 on acquiring parts to assemble the ghost guns and did not possess a valid gun license.
