BRACKENRIDGE, PA — What began as an investigation into the alleged assault of a 9-year-old boy took another turn inside a Pennsylvania home when detectives serving warrants discovered items associated with 3D-printed firearm suppressors and grenades, prompting a response from the bomb squad and federal agents, police said.

Allegheny County Police said County 911 was notified at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday of the alleged physical abuse of a 9-year-old boy in Brackenridge.

Detectives with the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit were called to assist and opened an investigation.

Investigators determined that the child had been assaulted by Taylor Slivan, 28, and Tyler Slivan, 28, both of Brackenridge, according to police.

The two were arrested and charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

Both were transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

The investigation expanded while detectives were serving arrest and search warrants at the scene.

Police said detectives discovered numerous items associated with 3D-printed firearm suppressors and grenades.

The discovery prompted authorities to call in the Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Allegheny County Hazmat to assist.

County police said Friday that the investigation into the items remained ongoing. Police did not provide additional details about the objects or announce additional charges connected to their discovery.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the case to contact the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

Police cautioned that the information released during the initial investigation could change as additional details become available.

The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
